Katie Pumphrey is a Baltimore-based contemporary artist and long distance swimmer. Her paintings, installations, and sculptures explore the tension between calm and chaos. Crisp edges and quiet shapes are at a constant tug-o-war with playful movement and vibrating color. Her work dives into the familiar scramble to find calm when chaos is swirling around us, and the go-to humor we call on to brighten a moment or lighten the load.
Harrison Gallery is a privately owned and operated studio and art space. The gallery was opened by Helen and Ben Harrison in 1986, and they have run the space independently for the past 28 years.
